Starting a new journey in life may initially evoke feelings of nervousness and apprehension, but I am embracing these emotions with excitement, as I eagerly anticipate the challenges and outcomes that lie ahead.
After dealing with elevated liver enzymes for over 10 years, undergoing many tests, blood tests, scans, and specialist appointments without finding any clear causes, I’ve decided to give a low to no sugar dietary plan a try. I’m hopeful that this dietary change may lead to improved liver function.
I have several other reasons for trialling a little to no sugar diet, including gastrointestinal issues like bloating, stomach cramps, abdominal pain and a build up of gas, which has been tested and not been linked to IBS or other diseases.
Additionally, I am determined to lose up to 10kg due to my high BMI. I firmly believe that achieving this weight loss goal will positively impact my liver and gut health. After undergoing multiple tests, it has been confirmed that I do not have fatty liver disease.
After discussing with my doctor, who referred me to a dietician, I am happy to move forward and try this plan. It’s always best to speak to a doctor or health professional about new diets or health plans, especially if you have diabetes, are at risk of diabetes, vegetarian, vegan, an athlete, pregnant and for many other reasons. My dietician is guiding me through the process.
Embarking on this journey, I’ll share my insights on embracing a little to no sugar diet and cutting down on other things like starch.
Let’s go!
